Moving around

Montreal is a safe city and it is easy to discover by public transport. La Société de transport de Montréal (STM) manages the bus and subway network. You can, among others, buy transport passes of 24 or 72 hours which will allow you to use with no restrictions buses and subway.

Note that the ticket for the 747 express shuttle bus that connect airport to downtown is a 24 hour pass. If you buy it at the airport, you will have access to subway and buses 24 hours after your ride in this shuttle bus that will bring you to the Gare d’Autocars de Montreal ( central bus station) a 5 minute walk to the hotel.

Montreal subway is easy and safe to use. Only 4 lines of different colors for 68 stations in total. The hotel is at 5 minute walk for main subway station Berri-UQAM. Familiarize yourself with subway plan here.

For those who want to keep the shape! , you can use Montreal’s bike sharing system BIXI during summer season.

Easy to discover without a car

By staying at the Auberge Le jardin d’Antoine, you have an easy access by foot to: Old Montreal, Quartier des Spectacles, Plateau Mont-Royal etc... Montreal exploration by foot or public transport is not a problem.

Finally, it is easy to get oriented in Montreal as streets crosses each other at right angles forming square or rectangle islets called blocks.

Some restaurants allow you to Bring your own Wine. You buy wine at Sociétés des Alcools du Québec (called SAQ) a government organization. You will find some at a few minute walk from the hotel.

Tipping is expected in restaurants with service at your table. A 15% of total before taxes is normal. Little trick, this 15% represents taxes amount calculated on your bill.
